Ls: Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Asylum. I’m Linstar, and with me today is returning guest riffer TheBefuddledBookworm!
Book: Hi! I have written a few pieces of bad fanfic in the past, and I am now redeeming that with poking holes in this piece. More recently, I have been trying to write some better fanfic.
Ls: Indeed. Today, we’re covering an old shame of Bookworm’s and it should be interesting to see how this goes. Let’s just say that it is indisputably better than even WaH, at least SPaG-wise.
Hello, spooktastic lunatics, and welcome back to The Asylum! I’m your riffer of the day, Crazy Minh, and with me once more is Duty Nurse Jim Jimson, our ghostly head nurse of Ward-13, the spooky ward! It’s still spooktober, and you know what that means! Jim, if you wouldn’t mind?
Last time on Dead Space: The Gaming Brother, we were introduced to Jeremy Clarke (son), our Gary Stu OC who was transported into the world of Dead Space when lightning struck his house while he was playing Dead Space, which somehow caused his television to become a hentai fan’s wet dream and make him all sleepy.
When he woke up, he suddenly had all of the memories he shouldn’t have of growing up with Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of Dead Space, since the afformentioned TV tentacle caused him to inexplicably become Isaac’s brother, who shouldn’t exist. He also has a high-end military-grade pulse rifle, a full set of combat armour with all four health upgrades, and a device that apparently can open any door because stu. All of this was given to him by the Advisor, which the author’s profile describes as “basically the god of the Dead Space universe”.
Aboard the Ishimura, he and Isaac encounter Necromorphs who Jeremy chooses not to shoot so the opening chase seqeunce can happen, and they run into Bill Stratton, an inexplicably chilled out man who has been fighting for his life aboard a monster-infested shipwreck for days on end, but has not gone insane as a result of this for frankly suspicious reasons.
Oh, and they ended off the chapter by jumping on a tram which, in the game, was bound for the Medical Deck, but was not given a destination in the story because the author had other things to talk about. Like how Jeremy has his super special custom weapons that he had in Dead Space 3 which somehow are aboard the Ishimura despite technically not existing in this time period.
*Minh once again sits in the cluttered administration office of Ward-13, wearing the same engineering R.I.G. that she wore in the last riff. The storm outside has abated, but a rolling fog has covered the grounds outside the window, and the full moon shines into the darkened room. The jack-o-lanterns, once lit from within by candles, now sit darkened. Minh takes a sip from a fresh cup of black tea, and leans forwards*
Hello, spooktastic Lunatics, and welcome back to the Asylum! I’m your riffer of the day, Crazy Minh, and with me once more is Duty Nurse Jim Jimson, the spooktastic Head Nurse of Ward-13! It’s still very much spooktober, so…
*nothing happens. Minh attempts to nudge Jim, but her shoulder passes through his chest.*
Urgh…Jim, hit it.
Today we’re covering the first chapter of a new fic. This fanfic is still in progress, and is pretty fresh (since it was last updated in 2018), but since there hasn’t been a update for five years, I think it’s fair game. Also, the author does note that it’s “on hiatus” in the description, which is also one of the most groan-inducing descriptions I’ve ever seen:
It was just another day for me until I played Dead Space at night. Now I’m apparently Isaac’s brother who came with him on to the USG Ishimura to find out what happened. Now I have to deal with Necromporphs, a bitchy woman, bad luck, and a Marker that decided that it was hilarious to taunt me. “And can someone get this Hunter to stop hugging me!” Rated T, for now. ON HIATUS FOR NOW
As someone who has playedthe game at night, I can tell you with confidence that doing so generally doesn’t transport you into the world of the game. It also generally doesn’t make you the extracanonical sibling of the main character.
Since we covered Dead Space in the last riff, there’s no need for a infodump, and we can get right into the action!
